With the support of Embassy of Belarus in Latvia, the 5th International Belarusian – Latvian business forum “Baltic Region 2010” (“Baltijas reģions 2010”) took place in Riga on 23rd of September, 2010. Forums practical part was introduced by Section No. 1 “Credit and Financial Sphere as the Locomotive of Investment Processes”. The moderator of section No. 1 was Mr. Rihards Svelpe, the managing partner of PriBalt Capital. During this section mostly traditional questions were looked through as tendencies of legislative and economic environment in both countries, as well as investment and loan opportunities. A special occasion or nova in the history of this bilateral forum was participation of “non-member country” representatives. With report “Belarus in the Spotlight of the Scandinavian Companies” appeared Aku Sorainen. Presence of Scandinavians in Belarusian – Latvian investment forum certified that Latvia still is being uses as buffer zone between East and West and this is especially important in time when Latvia is searching for its own place and role in global economics and great European Union.
